How to register a new ICQ / Jimm account and start chatting

The new retro network needs a new account. Click Register, enter a nickname with Latin letters, first name, email, a unique numeric UIN, and a password of 6–8 characters. The password must contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one digit, and one special character. These limits matter because old clients and OSCAR-like services are sensitive to login and password format. After registration, use the UIN as the login in Jimm or QIP. The nickname is used for the profile and search, the email is for the website account and password recovery, and the password is for signing in from the client. If you want friends to add you easily, choose a UIN that is easy to say or copy. After logging in, open the users list, find a contact by nickname or UIN, and add it in the client. If the contact is not found, try both search options because some old clients handle screen names and numeric IDs differently. Old official ICQ accounts are not migrated automatically, so create a new number and share it with friends.

What information registration requires

You need a Latin-script nickname, a first name, an email, a unique numeric UIN, and a 6-8 character password made of Latin letters or digits. These limits help old clients handle login correctly.

How to start chatting after signing up

Log into the client with your UIN and password, then add friends by UIN or nickname. If search does not work in one format, try the other — old clients handle screen names differently.
